Joel Pelletier: Chamber Pop Enhanced CD
The recording and programming for "Chamber Pop" began in 1993, although a few of the songs are even older. The recording, spread out over almost 5 years, was done at Sunset Sound and Sunset Sound Factory, and it was mixed at Sunset Sound on 29-31 December 1997. The CD-ROM programming began, after a couple of false starts, in September 1997, with translations accumulated from LA-area students and musicians from November 1997 thru January 1998. Besides the 12 songs on the album (with 2 extra songs that will appear on the cassette only) the CD-ROM portion of the disc, playable on Macintosh or Windows computers (a format known as "Enhanced CD"), contains original animations, illustrations and videos. All of the lyrics and text have been translated into 9 other languages (there are actually 10 complete CD-ROM presentations). You can view the lyrics in any of these languages while listening to the audio:
Chinese (Mandarin)
English
French
German
Italian
Japanese
Portuguese (Brazilian)
Russian
Spanish
Swedish
All the foriegn translation of the lyrics (other that English) allow users to also view them in English. The CD-ROM also contains Adobe Acrobat to view and print 3 scores or the lyrics, and a free 30-day Compuserve membership to help you get to my website (www.joelp.org). It was my goal to make this project available world-wide, and more products will be available from the website in the future.
